Fields College in conjunction with global publishing house Pan Macmillan were thrilled to host the launch of local writer Amanda Coetzee’s fourth book, “One Shot ” on 28 May 2014. Her three previous novels, Bad Blood, Redemption Song and Flaming June are available in digital and print form nationally and internationally while, two of the four, have already secured French rights and publication.
One Shot is the fourth in the detective series that stars Harry O’Connor (Badger) as its protagonist and this time, he has arrived on South African shores. Her publicist, Tarryn Talbot da Costa (Pan Macmillan)spoke of her growing popularity among crime fiction fans and her growing base of readers is testament to her page-turning trademark writing style.
Guests were treated to a powerful slide show and reading that introduced the novel before engaging the author in an entertaining and informative conversation on issues ranging from research and writing technique to who should play the lead character in a movie!
Amanda Coetzee appears regularly at National Literary Festivals and will be appearing at Jenny Crwys-William’s (Radio 702) Bloody Book Week in August. We look forward to hearing more from this talented local writer and congratulate her on the launch of her latest literary success.
